Data Rooms Providers is an independent directory of virtual data room software. It exists for one practical purpose: to help deal teams, advisers and company owners narrow a crowded market to a short list they can test in a week, wherever in the world the transaction happens.
What the directory covers
We track sixteen providers, from long-established transaction platforms to newer, more focused tools. Each one has a profile at /data-room-providers built from the same set of facts: starting price, free trial availability, security certifications, deployment model, headquarters, founding year and twelve features that matter in a live process, such as Q&A, redaction, dynamic watermarking and single sign-on.
On top of the profiles sit three ways to cut the list:
- By industry. Shortlists for M&A, private equity, life sciences, real estate, restructuring and other use cases at /industries.
- By region. Notes on local privacy law and currency for ten markets at /regions.
- Head to head. Side-by-side pages for the pairings buyers ask about most at /compare.
If you prefer to answer a few questions instead, /find-a-data-room suggests a starting point, and /vdr-pricing explains how vendors charge.
Who we are
Data Rooms Providers is produced by its in-house research team: people who have run document-heavy processes and who read pricing pages, security documentation and product release notes for a living. Pages carry the team name instead of personal bylines, since each one goes through the same review before it goes live.
How ratings are produced
Each provider earns a mark between 0 and 10 on five pillars (security, deal features, ease of use, value, support). The weighted scores roll up to a single rating out of 5. The full model, including the weights and how ties are broken, is on the methodology page. Our standards for sourcing, wording and corrections are in the editorial guidelines.
Ratings are editorial judgments. They are not averages of user reviews, and we do not publish review counts.
How the site is funded
A share of our links to providers are affiliate links. When you subscribe after clicking one, the vendor may pay us, and your price stays exactly the same. That money covers research and hosting. It does not buy a place in the ranking, a better score or softer wording. The details are in our disclosure.
What we are not
Data Rooms Providers does not act as a broker, a law firm or a security auditor. Nothing on the site is legal, financial or compliance advice. Prices change, and every figure we show is a guide; check it with the vendor before you commit.
Get in touch
Corrections, product updates from vendors and general questions are all welcome through the contact page. If you spot something out of date, tell us; we would rather fix it quickly than defend it.
